How Much Caffeine Is In Bubble Tea?

The amount of caffeine in bubble tea varies across the different types of tea. For example, there is roughly 40-50 mg of caffeine in black tea, 20-30 mg in green tea, and 20-35g in oolong tea

Let’s look at each type in more detail...

Black Tea

The most popular type of tea used in bubble tea cafes is black tea, which is the most oxidized form and so the most caffeinated.

There is roughly 40-50mg of caffeine in 1 cup of black tea. To put this into perspective, a regular cup of coffee will contain about 80-110mg of caffeine

Green Tea

Green tea is another popular type of tea due to its light, refreshing taste.

But not only is it known for its enjoyable taste… It is also viewed as a super healthy drink. This is because it is rich in epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which is a powerful antioxidant. There have been many studies which report health benefits of green tea too, such as the ability to lower cholesterol or to delay deterioration caused by Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

1 cup of green tea generally contains 20-30mg of caffeine, but it’s slow acting like most teas. This is beneficial for those who do not want to have a fast crash after a jolt of caffeine, which coffee can do.

Jasmine Tea

Jasmine tea also contains 20-30mg of caffeine in 1 cup and is generally made from green tea leaves. Because of this, it provides many of the same powerful health benefits that you would get from drinking green tea, such as being packed with antioxidants, aiding weight loss and boosting brain function, to name a few.

Does Fruit Bubble Tea Have Caffeine?

Bubble teas made with herbal tea are entirely caffeine free as they are not made from tea leaves. Fruit Bubble Tea flavours consist exactly of what it says on the tin; tea and fruit syrup! Fruit bubble teas do therefore contain caffeine, but at a much lower quantity than the typical black Assam tea.
