What Bubble Tea Should I Get?

With a near endless range of milk, flavours, teas, add-ons and toppings, it can be difficult to decide what bubble tea you should get — particularly if it’s your first time in a bubble tea shop or ordering one online. Although your friendly bubble-tea bar staff will be more than happy to help you decide, if you want to feel better prepared, we’re here to help! We’ve compiled a list of tips and taste options to help you decide what bubble tea to get. The best part of bubble tea is that there’s something for everyone, so you’ll be sure to find your new go-to.

1. The Classic

When in doubt, try the classic milk tea —  the drink that started it all. This tea is made from a frothy milk of your choice, paired with crushed ice and a few handfuls of caramelized tapioca pearls. 

For a sweeter kick, you can order the brown sugar milk tea (the classic milk tea with brown sugar), or a vanilla or caramel classic milk tea which is the same drink as above, but with added syrup.

2. Milkshake Style

If you’re a fan of flavoured milk and/or milkshakes, opt for a flavoured classic milk tea. With a huge range of flavours to choose from, including staple milkshake flavours strawberry, chocolate and banana, these sweet drinks are a fan-favourite for good reason. 

3. Fruit

Not sure about a milk-based drink? Try fruit tea instead! These are made from fruit, fruit juices and blended with ice. Their names often reflect the flavour (dragon fruit, grape, apple, kiwi, mango, passion fruit, watermelon and so on), so pick a fruit that you like and you’re good to go.

If you’d like add-ons, we’d recommend fruit-flavoured popping bubbles or a fruit jelly as these best compliment the already fruity drink.

4. Bubble Coffee

I know you came to this article for tea but, hear me out, bubble coffee is a game changer. This drink has the same set-up as the classic milk tea (milk, crushed ice and a few handfuls of caramelized tapioca pearl) but with coffee instead of the standard green or black tea. You can even ditch the ice and make it hot for a drink that is similar to your normal morning cuppa. 

5. Specials Menu

If you’re still stumped, see if you can order from the Specials Menu. These are pre-crafted drinks that have been designed to perfection and don’t require customisation (although the milk can be switched to a dairy-free alternative). Their familiar names should be a good indicator as to what flavour each drink is and whether it’s for you. For example, our Biscoff Milk Tea is perfect if you love the sweet biscuit of the same name. Likewise, for those that prefer a chocolate treat, the Oreo Crush special is a good match.
